Tapered Roller Bearings

Nexans Bearing supplies metric and inch tapered roller bearings for distributors, equipment manufacturers and maintenance buyers. Browse single-row and double-row references for industrial and automotive sourcing requirements.
Send your complete bearing designation, quantity and available drawing for a quotation. For inch-series bearings, include both cone and cup numbers. For replacement orders, add the equipment reference and any suffixes marked on the original bearing.

Find the Right Bearing Reference

Start with the original designation and then confirm the assembly details. The following references provide entry points into the catalogue; they are not an interchangeability table or a stock list.

Example references

Purchasing checks

Metric single-row bearings

32309

Complete designation, dimensions and required bearing arrangement

Inch-series bearings

LM567949/LM567910; L44643/L44613

Both component numbers, suffixes and complete assembly dimensions

Double-row bearings

If your reference is not shown, send it with the required quantity and application details for availability review. Include a clear photograph of the bearing markings when the original designation is difficult to read.

Single-Row and Double-Row Arrangements

A single-row tapered roller bearing carries radial load and axial load in one direction. Opposed bearings are commonly used when the arrangement must support axial forces in both directions. The cone assembly and cup are separable components.

Double-row designs provide a different assembly arrangement. Confirm the specific design, component orientation and any spacers against the drawing. Do not treat a double-row bearing as an automatic replacement for two independently selected single-row bearings.

The required arrangement depends on the equipment design. Send radial and axial load information, operating speed, temperature and lubrication conditions when requesting technical review. Where loads vary during operation, describe the duty cycle and any impact loading rather than relying only on a general application name.

Identify the Cone, Cup and Supply Unit

The cone is the inner-ring assembly with rollers and cage; the cup is the outer ring. Inch-series references commonly identify these components separately. Preserve both numbers and all suffixes in your inquiry.

State whether the requested quantity means complete bearings, individual cones, individual cups or complete multi-component assemblies. For example, a quotation for ten components is not necessarily a quotation for ten complete bearings.

For assemblies containing spacers or matched components, attach the assembly drawing and component list. Confirm the supplied contents on each quotation line. Similar component markings or matching main dimensions alone are insufficient to approve a replacement combination.

Check Dimensions and Bearing Setting

Compare the bore diameter, outside diameter and assembled total width using the drawing. For conventional single-row drawings, these are commonly identified as d, D and T. Cone width B and cup width C are separate measurements; do not substitute either for total width.

Keep the original metric or inch designation even if dimensions are converted for your purchasing system. State the units and avoid rounding dimensions used for technical acceptance.

Bearing setting refers to the endplay or preload in the mounted arrangement. Specify the required condition and acceptance method from the equipment drawing or installation procedure. Operating temperature and deflection can change the setting during service, so there is no universal adjustment value for every application.

For replacement work, include the original assembly specification where available. A bearing quotation should distinguish the supplied part configuration from the setting established during equipment assembly.

Prepare Your Tapered Bearing RFQ

A clear inquiry helps align the technical requirement with the quoted supply. For multiple items, send one line per bearing reference and keep each quantity linked to its required configuration.

RFQ field

Information to provide

Identification

Complete bearing designation, suffixes, cone and cup references where applicable

Supply scope

Complete bearing, component or assembly; required spacers and other included parts

Technical basis

Drawing number and revision, dimensions, units and specified tolerances

Application

Equipment model, installation position, operating conditions and replacement reference

Bearing setting

Required clearance or preload information and the applicable acceptance procedure

Quality requirements

Required inspection characteristics, documentation and traceability information

Order details

Quantity per item, sample requirements and expected repeat demand

Delivery requirements

Destination, requested date, marking, packaging and label requirements

State any material standard or precision requirement explicitly. Ask for the available inspection and documentation scope at the quotation stage, particularly when supplier approval depends on specific records.

Confirm minimum order quantity, delivery timing and packing for the exact item. For large bearings, include any handling or protective-packing requirements in the inquiry. Private-label requests should identify the proposed markings, packaging artwork and quantity for review.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need both cone and cup numbers for an inch bearing inquiry?

Yes, provide both when available. They identify the requested combination more clearly. If only one marking is readable, send photographs and the available drawing or assembly reference.

Can I order only the cone or cup?

Specify the component and its full reference in your inquiry. Separate-component availability and compatibility with the intended assembly should be confirmed before ordering.

Is the total bearing width the same as the cone width?

Not necessarily. Total width, cone width and cup width are distinct drawing dimensions. Use the relevant symbols and confirm the complete assembly size.

Can I replace a bearing using only its main dimensions?

Dimensions are a starting point. Also compare the full designation, internal design, component combination and equipment requirements before accepting a substitute.

What preload should I specify?

Use the requirement established for your equipment and bearing arrangement. Provide the drawing or installation specification for review; a general catalogue description does not determine the correct setting.

What should I send for a wholesale quotation?

Send the complete reference, supply scope, quantity, destination and required documents. Include drawings, packaging requirements and your requested delivery date where available.
